Controlling the client MAC address that is sent to the View desktop volatile environment variables (1038435)

Purpose

View clients with multiple network interfaces only send one MAC address to the volatile environment variables on the View desktop. Which address is sent is controlled by the binding order set in Windows on the client. This can result in a wrong information being presented.

This article provides steps to control the client MAC address that is sent to the View desktop volatile environment variables.

Resolution

You can make the View Client send a specific MAC address to the volatile environment variables by changing the binding order set in Windows.

To control the MAC address that is sent to the virtual desktop:
  1. Open the Network Adapters control panel in Windows.
  2. In the menu options, select Advanced > Advanced Settings

Note: Windows 7 and Vista users may need to press the Alt key to show the menu bar.

  3. In the Adapters and Bindings tab, move the adapter whose MAC address you want sent to the top of the list under Connections:.
  4. Restart the client Computer.

Additional Information

If any servers are run on the machine where this change is made, they may begin binding to the new primary adapter if they are not specifically set to bind to all adapters or a specific adapter.
