Applications captured with ThinApp that include a VBS script fail to run on Windows 7 with UAC enabled (1034319)
Symptoms
- An application that is captured by ThinApp 4.6 or earlier that includes a VBS script fails to run when launched on a Windows 7 machine when UAC is enabled.
- The application runs on Windows 7 when UAC is disabled.
Resolution
ThinApp applications do not prompt for permission to run with elevated rights and silently fail as a result.
To resolve this issue and cause the application to ask for elevated permissions when run, add this parameter to the package.ini file and build the application:
UACRequestedPrivilegesLevel=requireAdministrator
If you want the application to run without UAC response or do not want to build the package with the above parameter, disable Windows User Access Control on the computer you are using to run the package.
