During VMware Tools upgrade from version 3.0.0 to 3.0.1 or higher on this guest operating system, you may see a cannot stat '/etc/vmware-tools/config' message. This is a harmless message and only occurs if you are using the rpm -Uhv command to perform the upgrade, and you can take one of the following actions depending on whether you've already started the upgrade:

• If you've already started the upgrade using the rpm -Uhv command, you can ignore the message and continue running the vmware-config-tools.pl script. The VMware Tools upgrade continues as it normally would, and will complete successfully.

• If you haven't started the upgrade yet, you can remove the old VMware Tools version and replace it with the new version. Use the rpm -e VMware Tools command to remove the 3.0.0 version of VMware Tools. Then, install the 3.0.1 or later version with the rpm -ihv <VMwareTools_filename.rpm> command.

Note: You will still need to run the vmware-config-tools.pl script.
