Data collection issues fixed by the Consistency Checker Tool for VMware vCloud Director 1.0 (1027173)

Details

VMware vCenter Chargeback 1.5 interacts with VMware vCloud Director 1.0 through the VMware vCloud Director Data Collector. The Consistency Checker Tool for VMware vCloud Director 1.0 detects and rectifies any data inconsistencies between VMware vCloud Director 1.0 and vCenter Chargeback 1.5 databases, thus preventing the following potential issues from occurring:

  • vCenter Chargeback charges for the network services and network count even if the deployment of a network fails during service configuration in vShield Manager.
  • Virtual machines might be incorrectly charged if vApp creation with resolved virtual machines partially fails.
  • Changes to the vApp name in VMware vCloud Director might not be reflected in vCenter Chargeback.

Solution

The Consistency Checker Tool detects and rectifies the data inconsistencies by modifying the VMware vCloud Director database schema. This tool can be downloaded from the Drivers & Tools tab on the vCenter Chargeback 1.5 download page. If you are not integrating vCenter Chargeback 1.5 and VMware vCloud Director 1.0, you need not download and install this tool.

You must install the Consistency Checker Tool before installing VMware vCloud Director 1.0. The Oracle Database user must have the Create Job privilege to install the Consistency Checker Tool.
