VMware vCloud Director cell requirements
At least one supported vCloud Director host platform must be running and configured with an appropriate amount of memory and storage.
These VMware vCloud Director Server host operating systems are supported:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (64 bit), Update 4
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (64 bit), Update 5
Each host:
-
Must have two IP addresses, and must have two SSL certificates (one for each IP address)
- Should have access to a Microsoft Sysprep deployment package
To provide temporary storage for uploads and downloads, shared storage must be accessible to all hosts in a vCloud Director cluster. Each host must mount the shared transfer server storage at $VCLOUD_HOME/data/transfer (typically /opt/vmware/cloud-director/data/transfer). This volume must have write permission for root.
Oracle Database Requirements
An account for the vCloud Director database user must exist and be granted the required system privileges.
Verify that the database service starts automatically when the database server is rebooted.
For more information, see Configuring Oracle databases for VMware vCloud Director (1025768).
General Requirements
For information related to networking, see VMware vCloud Director 1.0 network requirements (1026088).
You must use a network time service such as NTP to synchronize the clocks of all Cloud Director server hosts, including the database server host. The maximum allowable drift between the clocks of synchronized hosts is 2 seconds. For more information, see Timekeeping best practices for Linux guests (1006427).
All host names specified during vCloud Director and vShield Manager installation and configuration must be resolvable by DNS using forward and reverse lookup of the fully-qualified domain name or the unqualified hostname.
