Virtual Machine Total Disk Latency Alarm is not functioning on VMware vCenter Server 4.X (1025176)

Symptoms

  • Virtual Machine Total Disk latency Alarms do not trigger on VMware vCenter Server 4.x.
  • When attempting to set a trigger value on virtual machine Total Disk Latency (ms), the alarm does not trigger.

Purpose

This article provides guidance on Virtual Machine Total Disk Latency Alarms on VMware vCenter Server 4.0 and 4.1.

Resolution

The default Virtual Center Alarm for Virtual Machine Total Disk Latency does not function on VMware vCenter Server 4.0 and VMware vCenter Server 4.1.
 
This issue is resolved in vCenter Server 4.1 Update 1 and ESX/ESXi 4.1 Update 1, where new trigger VM Max Total Disk latency (ms) is introduced.
