A Wrong DB Scheme error appears when starting Management

Symptoms

  • Cannot start Management
  • Starting Management fails
  • When starting Management, you receive the error:

    Wrong DB Scheme

Resolution

The Wrong DB Scheme error is a generic message and has several possible causes:

  • It occurs anytime the version cannot be queried by the engine
  • Not changing the IP address after re-imaging using nlnetcfg
  • Changing the IP address by any means other than nlnetcfg
  • Oracle is not running or is impaired
  • Database corruption
Usually, backing up and restoring the database resolves the issue. However, if the database was upgraded, there may not be enough resources on the VMware vCenter Application Discovery Manager Appliance. For more information, see Hardware requirements for running VMware vCenter Application Discovery Manager (ADM) 5.3 (1023365).

Additional Information

Change: ADM Appliance upgraded to version 5.3 or 6.0
