License keys for VMware vCenter Configuration Manager 5.2.1 and 5.3 (1023335)
Purpose
Resolution
The license keys listed on the License Keys page in My VMware for VMware vCenter Configuration Manager version 5.2.1 and 5.3 reflects only your software product license entitlement and do not activate your product. These license keys become active only when VMware vCenter Configuration Manager includes VMware standard license key generation/enforcement software in the product’s code and you decide to install this software version release. The format of the VMware key is an alpha-numeric 25 digit code (for example, AXXXG-2XXXE-WXXX3-6XXXP-YXXX3).
New product orders
Starting July 2010, for about a 12 month period, the license key to activate your VMware vCenter Configuration Manager product is generated out of another licensing system. This license key is sent to you in a separate email message from VMware Customer Service. The license key for vCenter Configuration Manager and its components are slightly intricate, as every time a you add additional licenses or components a completely new key must be generated based on your existing product license. The vCenter Configuration Manager product only accepts a single license key which needs to be replaced every time you purchase additional licensed functionality which includes:
- Managed Servers (Windows or Linux/Unix/Mac)
- Managed Workstations (Windows or Linux/Unix/Mac)
Migrated EMC Ionix customers
If you purchased your product before July 1, 2010, you would have already received a license key from EMC to activate your product. Continue to use this license key to activate your product. If you have an active Support and Subscription contract when the licensing control software in VMware vCenter Configuration Manager is released, use the license key on the License Keys page in My VMware to activate your product.
