Invalid pin number in the BIOS descriptions of interrupt routing entries cause undefined ESX/ESXi behavior (1021934)

Details

Some BIOSes incorrectly describe interrupt routing entries with an invalid pin number. The root cause is a third-party issue. This might result in undefined ESX/ESXi behavior.

Solution

The issue with undefined ESX/ESXi behavior is resolved in ESX/ESXi 4.0 Update 2. ESX/ESXi now ignores these incorrect routing entries and generates a system alert similar to the following:
Skipping interrupt routing entry with bad pin number (4); this is a BIOS bug
