A recovery or test recovery plan fails with virtual machines that have a pre-boot message (1021827)

  • A recovery or test recovery plan may fail if it has several virtual machines at the same priority level, and more than one virtual machines is set up with a pre-boot message.
  • The first virtual machine boots, but all other virtual machines sit waiting for input.
  • This issue occurs if you add the pre-boot messages at the protection group or if you customize the recovery plan.
  • Closing and reopening the client or unloading and reloading the plugin do not resolve this issue.

The recovery plan prompts for the first virtual machine's pre-boot message. When confirmed, that virtual machine proceeds with booting. All the other virtual machines at that level sit waiting for input, but they do not offer a place to give input.
This issue is resolved in SRM 4.1. You can download SRM 4.1 from the SRM Download Center.
To workaround this issue and get a prompt for the next virtual machine, pause and resume the recovery plan.
