Installing VMware Tools in a Novell NetWare virtual machine (1018299)

Purpose

This article provides steps to install VMware Tools in a Novell NetWare guest operating system. The article uses Novell NetWare 6.5, but the same basic steps should apply to other versions of Novell NetWare.

Resolution

To install VMware Tools in a Novell NetWare guest operating system:

Ensure your Novell virtual machine is powered on.
If you are running the GUI interface, close it. Click the Novell button > Close GUI > OK.
Click VM in the virtual machine menu, then click Guest > Install/Upgrade VMware Tools and click OK.
Load the CDROM driver by typing the following in the Novell console and pressing Enter:

load cddvd
Install VMware Tools by typing the following in the Novell console and pressing Enter:

vmwtools:\setup.ncf
To end the VMware Tools install, click VM in the virtual machine menu, then click Guest > End VMware Tools Install.
To go back to the GUI interface, type startx and press Enter.
