Health status of all sensors visible in the localized versions of the VI Client is inconsistent with the English version (1018219)
Details
Health status of all sensors is displayed inconsistently on Japanese, Chinese, and German versions of VirtualCenter Server 2.5 Update 6. To check the health status:
- Install VirtualCenter Server 2.5 Update 6 on Japanese, Chinese, or German locale or install ESX Server 3.5 Update 5.
- Log in to the VirtualCenter Server or ESX host using VI Client.
- On the Configuration tab, click the Health Status link.
- The health status of all sensors is displayed as Unknown instead of Normal.
Solution
Workaround:
If you are accessing VirtualCenter Server, do the following:
- Download all the <locale>_enum_vmsg.zip files attached with this KB.
- Extract all locale enum.vmsg files to your desktop.
- Login to the VirtualCenter server.
- Navigate to the following path:
C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\VirtualCenter Server\locale\<ja/zh_CN/de> - Take a backup of your Japanese, Chinese, and German enum.vmsg files, in case you have to revert to the old files.
- Replace the enum.vmsg file for each locale with the corresponding file that you have saved on your desktop.
- Restart the VirtualCenter Server.
If you are accessing the ESX host using the VI Client, do the following:
- Download all the <locale>_enum_vmsg.zip files attached with this KB.
- Extract all locale enum.vmsg files to your desktop.
- Login to the ESX server.
- Navigate to the following path:
/usr/lib/vmware/hostd/locale/<ja/zh_CN/de> - Take a backup of your Japanese, Chinese, and German enum.vmsg files, in case you have to revert to the old files.
- Replace the enum.vmsg file for each locale with the corresponding file that you have saved on your desktop.
- Type service mgmt-vmware restart to restart the hostd service. For more information on restarting management agents on the ESX host, see http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003490.
