Details
|
Solution
Summaries and Symptoms
Issues fixed in this patch (and their relevant symptoms, if applicable) include:
- This bulletin updates the VMware ESX 4.0 SCSI lpfc820 device driver to version 400.8.2.0.30.52vmw-4vmw.
- The HP modular storage array has a failover feature that allows the active port to assume the identity of another port including the other port's World Wide Port Name (WWPN). When this happens, the target port has the same destination ID (DID), but a different WWPN. This differentiation causes the driver to mark one of the two target ports as NPR with a port login (PLOGI) that is outstanding while the other target port proceeds normally with the identity it assumed from the first target port.
Deployment Considerations
None beyond the required patch bundles and reboot information listed in the table above.
Patch Download and Installation
See the VMware vCenter Update Manager Administration Guide for instructions on using Update Manager to download and install patches to automatically update ESX 4.0 hosts.
To update ESX 4.0 hosts when not using Update Manager, download the patch zip file from http://support.vmware.com/selfsupport/download/ and install the bulletin using esxupdate from the command line of the host. For more information, see the ESX 4 Patch Management Guide.
