"MPC table is too large" error when rebooting host with large number of logical processors (1018108)

Details

After completing installation of ESX software on hosts with a large number of logical processors, an error message similar to the following might appear during reboot:

TSC: 27812684 cpu0:0) MPS: 732: MPC table too large, its size (61440) is > than max (8192). Skipping table!

Solution

This message is harmless and can be disregarded. ESX software uses ACPI tables. The MPS data is not relevant to system function.

This issue is resolved in ESX 4.0 Update 2. The message has been removed from the software.
