Details

During the boot of a guest operating system, the warning message " WARNING: VSCSI: ResetWatchdog: Retry 0 on handle 260 still in progress after xxx seconds" appears.

Solution

Since the timer used to handle this warning only estimates the amount of time remaining, the message often appears after the guest operating system has already finished booting. The messages are usually harmless and do not indicate a problem with the guest operating system. In ESX Server 3.0.2 and higher versions, the message displays in the log instead of appearing as a warning during the boot sequence.
