Clicking Download and Install for the Performance Overview Plug-In results in an error (1017609)

Details

The VI Client does not monitor the VirtualCenter Server for new script extensions, but they are displayed in the Plug-in Manager dialog. At this stage if you click Download and Install, an error is displayed and the script plug-in is enabled only after you restart the VI Client.

Solution

Upgrade to VirtualCenter 2.5 Update 6 release. The newly installed script plug-ins are displayed in the Available tab. You can click Download and Install to start the VI Client to scan for a newly added script plug-in that is displayed in the Installed tab and is ready for use.
