Unable to run esxupdate update command after removing a bulletin that has hostd VIB (1016402)
Solution
This issue is resolved in ESX 4.0 Update 2. For prior releases, see the following task.
To reinstall the hostd RPM if you have already removed the hostd RPM:
- Run the esxupdate -m metadata -b <bulletin_that_contains_hostd_RPM> stage command in the ESX server using SSH.
- Change the directory to the extracted cache directory by running the following command:
cd <rpm extracted cache dir> (/var/cache/esxupdate/rpm_vmware-hostd-esx_xxx/) - Install hostd.rpm by running the following RPM command:
rpm -Uvh <vmware-hostd-esx-xxx.rpm> - Reinstall the bulletin by running the following command:
esxupdate -m metadata -b <bulletin name> update
