Converting an encrypted virtual machine may fail

Details

Converting an encrypted virtual machine may fail with the error message Unable to determinate Guest Operating System.

Solution

Remove encryption from the virtual machine before converting.
 
To remove encryption in Workstation
  1. Select VM > Settings > Options.
  2. In the Options tab, select Encryption.
  3. Under Encryption, select Remove Encryption.
  4. Enter your password and click Remove Encryption.
