OVF Import task fails when you use VMware Infrastructure Client 2.5 to import an OVF package

Details

Importing OVF (Open Virtualization Format) packages to a managed or unmanaged ESX by using the virtual appliance import option in VI Client 2.5 succeeds only if the hardware family version of the OVF package matches the hardware version of the destination ESX.

Solution

Use either VMware Converter or VMware OVF Tool to import OVF packages.
VMware OVF Tool is more comprehensive, because it supports importing OVF 0.9 and OVF 1.0 to ESX 2.0 and later.
