Licensing VMware Workstation

This article provides steps for licensing VMware Workstation.

To license VMware Workstation:

Launch VMware Workstation.
Click Help.
Click Enter Serial Number and enter the license key.

Note: The license key for VMware Workstation 7.x and 8.x is a 25-digit alpha-numeric code that works for both the Windows and Linux versions of VMware Workstation. The VMware Workstation 6.x license key is a 20-digit alpha-numeric code and does not work with VMware Workstation 7.x or 8.x.
Click OK.
Click Register to register the VMware Workstation or Close to register later.

Log in to the License Portal to view your Workstation 7.x/8.x licenses.
VMware Workstation 6.5.4 is a maintenance release for VMware Workstation 6.x and is a free upgrade for Workstation 6.x It accepts 20-character license keys from Workstation 6.5.x and 25-character license keys from Workstation 7.x. You can download pre-configured trial virtual machines from the Virtual Appliances catalog section.
Before purchasing the product, ensure to use the evaluation license offered by VMware. Once purchased, you cannot get a refund for non-defective software and related disks and manuals.
