Preventing Boot Camp from appearing in Fusion's Virtual Machine Library

Purpose

This article provides steps to preventing Fusion from detecting and displaying a Boot Camp partition automatically.

Resolution

You prevent Fusion from automatically detecting and displaying Boot Camp partition in Fusion 3.x.

Fusion 1.x and 2.x do not support preventing auto-detection of a Boot Camp partition.

To remove an existing Boot Camp partition from Fusion's virtual machine library:
  1. Ensure the Boot Camp partition is not running in Fusion.
  2. From Fusion's menu bar, click Window > Virtual Machine Library.
  3. From the left column, Ctrl+click the Boot Camp partition and click Delete.
  4. To remove Fusion's Boot Camp configuration folder click Move To Trash. To retain this folder for future use, click Keep.
This only deletes the files that Fusion needs to launch the Boot Camp partition in virtualization and does not affect the contents of the Boot Camp partition.

To re-add Boot Camp partition into the Virtual Machine Library:
  1. From Fusion's menu bar, click Window > Virtual Machine Library.
  2. From the left column, click Home.
  3. From the right column, click Run Windows from your Boot Camp partition.
