ESX 3.5 hosts running ESX 3.5 Update 4 Release Async drivers might fail during boot time after installing ESX350-200910401-SG

On ESX hosts running ESX 3.5 Update 4 Release Async drivers, installing ESX350-200910401-SG (KB 1013124) might cause ESX hosts to fail during boot time. This issue occurs due to the break of kernel-vmnix compatibility between ESX350-200910401-SG and ESX 3.5 Update 4 Release Async drivers.

Solution

To prevent this issue, on ESX hosts running ESX 3.5 Update 4 Release Async drivers, do not install ESX350-200910401-SG (KB 1013124).

Note: VMware is preparing a new version of driver CDs for ESX 3.5 Update 5.
