WRMSR (TSC) Instruction Loses High 32 Bits When Executed by Virtual Machines on Intel Core CPU (10146)

Details

When a virtual machine sets its 64-bit TSC with a WRMSR instruction on an Intel Core processor, the higher 32-bits are truncated and only the lower 32 bits are written to TSC.

Solution

This issue is fixed in ESX Server 3.0.2.
