Past Week stats rollupvc40 SQL Server job fails to complete after upgrading to vCenter (1014209)

Details

vCenter 4.0 and vCenter 4.0 Update 1 use SQL Server Agent to run the following jobs to manage historical data:

  • Past Day stats rollup
  • Past Week stats rollup
  • Past Month stats rollup
The Past Week stats rollupvc40 job consists of three steps, and each step invokes a store procedure to run upon successful completion of the previous step. The third step might fail to run due to an issue with the SQL script.

Solution

Download the file job_schedule2_mssql.sql attached to this KB article and perform the following steps:
  1. Connect to your vCenter database using the same login credentials used by vSphere, using the client utility for your database version (for example, the SQL Server Management Studio utiilty).
  2. Open a new query window and make sure that the vSphere database is selected.
  3. Paste the contents of job_schedule2_mssql.sqlin the new query window and click Execute.
    The message Command(s) completed successfully is displayed when the SQL statements are executed.
