Cannot launch VMware Fusion 1.x when using Snow Leopard

Symptoms

  • Unable to launch Fusion 1.x in Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher versions
  • You see the error:

    unrecoverable error (vcpu-0 NOT_IMPLEMENTED bora/devices/mainmem/mainMEM hosted.c:1967)

Resolution

Fusion 1.x is not supported or compatible with Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher.
 
VMware recommends you to perform a free upgrade to Fusion 2.x. After the upgrade, you can continue to use your virtual machines and also have the latest feature and performance enhancements of the updated version.

The latest release in the Fusion 2 product line is Fusion 2.0.8, which is available from the VMware Fusion Download Center. For a video walkthrough on the download and installation process, see Downloading, verifying, and installing Fusion (1005466).
