vMotion of the AppSpeed server to hosts with different time settings causes time jumps
Symptoms
If AppSpeed server is installed on a cluster with VMware Distributed Resource Scheduling (DRS) enabled and is being vMotioned between hosts with different times configured, you may experience these symptoms:
- The AppSpeed server syncs its time with its host, which causes time jumps (both forward and backward)
- The time jumps may be visible in the AppSpeed interface
- The time jumps are not AppSpeed specific, but occur on every virtual machine which is using vMotion and is syncing its time with its host
Resolution
To resolve this issue, ensure time settings on all hosts within the designated cluster domain are identical.
To change the time settings on a host
- In vCenter, select the host and click the Configuration tab.
- Click Time Configuration.
- Click the Properties link.
- Set the date and time, ensuring that it matches the other hosts in the cluster.
