Linked clones are not deleted if a failure occurs during the deployment of several AppSpeed probes

Symptoms

  • A failure occurs during the deployment of several probes
  • This failure may result in linked clones (templates needed for the AppSpeed probe(s) deployment) being left behind instead of being deleted

Resolution

When starting the deployment procedure, AppSpeed creates a linked clone for every probe being deployed. If an error occurs during this stage and the stage where the linked clones are automatically deleted, the linked clones may be left behind. This may occur if storage does not reply on time due to, for example, network overload.

After verifying that the probe deployment have finished their deployment, delete the leftover linked clones through the vSphere Client, then reinitiate deployment.

For more information about deleting the linked clones, see Remove Virtual Machines from the Datastore in the Basic System Administration Guide for your version of ESX.

For more information about reinitiating deployment, see the AppSpeed User's Guide
