Staged bulletins get cleared after remediation

Details

The staging option allows you to download the applicable bulletins to a local cache (the staging location), which speeds up the remediation process. However, an installation that consists of one or more bulletins deletes the entire staged cache.

The following scenario illustrates the behavior of the staging option:
  1. You create and stage a baseline with multiple bulletins.
  2. You create a second baseline against a single bulletin.

If the baseline created as part of second step is remediated, then the whole cache is cleared up after the upgrade process is complete.

Solution

The remediation process handles the staging automatically. Therefore, this is a harmless issue that does not require a workaround. If the bulletins that Update Manager attempts to remediate are not present in the local stage location, they are directly downloaded from the portal, staged, and then remediated.
