How to download VMware products and troubleshooting issues with downloads (1012245)


Important updates:
  • Cannot download a VMware product
  • Downloading a VMware product fails
  • When you click the Download link, you may see the error:

    Sorry, at the moment you are not authorized to download VMware product

  • You see the message:

    Your download request has been received and is under review for download eligibility


This article provides steps to download the latest version of any VMware product.


Downloading VMware products from My VMware

To download VMware products from My VMware:
  1. Log in to My VMware.

    Note: If you do not have a My VMware profile, you must create one. For more information, see How to create a My VMware profile (2007005).

  2. Click Products > My Products or All Products.
  3. If you:
    • Clicked My Products in step 2, click Download next to the product you want to download, then click Go to Downloads.
    • Clicked All Products in step 2, hover over the product you want to download and click View Components, then click Go to Downloads.

      Note: You can also download products from an alphabetical list on the Products A-Z tab. For more information about the difference between these options, see Accessing VMware downloads (2006993).

  4. Select the latest version of the product from the Select Version dropdown.

  5. Click Download or Download Manager.
  6. Complete any forms that display and accept the End User License Agreement.
When you download a product, it appears on your My Download History page in My VMware.

Installing and downloading VMware Tools

VMware Tools is a suite of utilities that enhances the performance of the virtual machine's guest operating system and improves management of the virtual machine. For more information, see Installing VMware Tools (340).

Downloading evaluation products

Downloading the VMware Infrastructure Client/vSphere Client

The vSphere Client .exe is part of the ESX, ESXi, or vCenter Server download binaries. You can download the vSphere Client from the VMware vSphere download page.

Note: Log in with your My VMware credentials when prompted.

Troubleshooting download issues

If you experience issues when downloading, follow these troubleshooting steps:
  1. The Sorry, at the moment you are not authorized to download error can occur if you try to download a Datacenter Product and you are not associated with the same account as the product license. To resolve this issue, ensure you are added to the account. For more information, see How to invite new users to an account in My VMware (2070555) and How to remove a user in My VMware (2070557).

  2. To troubleshoot errors when downloading binaries using Download Manager, see Akamai Download Manager FAQs. Try downloading the binaries manually using the web browser option if you have difficulties downloading the software using Download Manager and vice versa.

  3. Ensure that your browser allows pop-ups from For more information, see How to Disable your browser's pop-up blocker to allow VMware downloads (2018645).

  4. If you are using Internet Explorer 8 and you experience issues when manually downloading binaries, see  Manually downloading binaries in Internet Explorer 8 fails (2018377).

  5. The Your download request has been received and is under review for download eligibility error can occur if your request is being reviewed or if your My VMware profile is incomplete. For more information, see Message ID 621: Download request is under review for eligibility (1031472).

  6. Clear the browser cookies and temporary files.

  7. Try using a different browser.
