Determining the build number for VMware Workstation

Purpose

This article provides steps for checking the build number of your VMware Workstation installation.

Resolution

To determine the build number on a Windows host:
  1. Launch Workstation on a Windows host.
  2. Click Help > About VMware Workstation.
The build number is displayed after the product name and version in the About page.
For example:
VMware Workstation
Version 6.5.2 Build 156735
 
To determine the build number on a Linux host:
  1. Launch Workstation on a Linux host.
  2. Click Help > About.
The build number is displayed after the product name and version in the About page.
 
For example:
VMware Workstation
Version 6.5.2 - Build 156735
