Cannot prepare a Lab Manager host that was removed from VirtualCenter without being unprepared

Symptoms

You cannot prepare a host that was previously prepared but removed from VirtualCenter without being unprepared.  The following applies to hosts that have been enabled for Host Spanning

Resolution

If you remove a host from VirtualCenter without unpreparing it, you must delete the service virtual machine from the host before you can re-prepare the host.

To delete the service virtual machine:
  1. Log in to the ESX host using VMware Infrastructure Client.
  2. Identify the virtual machine by name. For example: VMwareLM-ServiceVM-Ixx-Hxx.
  3. If it is powered on, power off the virtual machine.
  4. Select the virtual machine and click Delete from disk.
  5. Prepare the host from the Lab Manager interface. For more information, see the Lab Manager User's Guide.
