Cannot make an ASR backup of Windows
Symptoms
You may experience these symptoms:
- Creating a Windows Automated System Recovery (ASR) backup fails
- You receive the error:
The files for the recovery diskette could not be created. The operation was aborted.
Resolution
This issue is typically resolved by following one of these two Microsoft Knowledge Base articles:
- The "Files for the Recovery Diskette Could Not Be Cleared" Error Message Occurs When You Use Ntbackup for Automated System Recovery
- You receive a "files for the recovery diskette could not be created" error message when you run a backup program on the passive node of a Windows Server 2003 server cluster
