ESX install fails with the error - initrd extends beyond end of memory

Symptoms

  • ESX 4 install fails
  • You receive the error:

    initrd extends beyond end of memory

Resolution

This error appears when there is insufficient memory available to the ESX host. ESX requires that you have a minimum of 2GB or memory available.
 
Ensure you have a sufficient amount of memory available to complete the installation.
