Lack of support for USB 2.0 drivers on Windows Me, Windows 98, and Windows 95 (1011734)

This article applies to the following operating systems:
  • Windows Me
  • Windows 98
  • Windows 95
Windows Me,Windows 98, and Windows 95 do not provide drivers for a USB 2.0 on Workstation 6.x. As a result, when you install these operating systems, a warning will appear indicating that a device driver for a USB 2.0 cannot be found.

Solution

Disable the USB controller on the guest.
 
To disable the USB controller
  1. Open the virtual machine settings editor (VM > Settings).
  2. Select Settings to open the Virtual Machine Settings dialog box.
  3. Select Hardware, and deselect the Enable USB 2.0 check box for the USB Controller.
  4. Click OK.
