Upgrading VMware Tools on multiple virtual machines

Purpose

This article provides the process for upgrading VMware Tools on multiple virtual machines on vCenter Server 4.0 and ESX 4.0.

Resolution

You can upgrade multiple virtual machines by using the Virtual Machines tab.
 
To upgrade multiple virtual machines:
  1. Launch the vSphere Client and log in to the vCenter Server.
  2. Click Inventory > Hosts and Clusters.
  3. Choose the host or cluster that contains the virtual machines you want to upgrade.
  4. Click the Virtual Machines tab.
  5. Choose the virtual machine(s) you want to upgrade the VMware Tools.

    Note: Ctrl+left-click to select multiple virtual machines.

  6. Right-click your selections and click Guest > Install/Upgrade VMware Tools and click OK
