Sysprep on Windows Server 2003 does not run
Symptoms
Sysprep customization does not work on VirtualCenter 2.5.x with Windows Server 2003 (32bit Edition)
After successful cloning of the virtual machine, the guest operating system sits at the login prompt indefinitely
Sysprep does not run when logging into Windows manually on the deployed template
Resolution
If the File and Printer Sharing service is not enabled for the Virtual Network Adapter TCP/IP Properties, sysprep will fail.
You must ensure that the File and Printer Sharing service is enabled for the Virtual Network Adapter TCP/IP Properties in the Template before deploying.
If enabling the File and Printer Sharing service does not solve the issue, uninstall and then reinstall the File and Printer Sharing service.
