Protected Service Discovery task does not run when vCenter products are in evaluation mode

Purpose

This article provides information about protected service discovery when VMware vCenter Server is run in the evaluation mode.

Resolution

Under normal operating conditions, vCenter Server Heartbeat runs the Protected Service Discovery task at the interval configured in the vCenter Server Heartbeat Console.

When VMware vCenter products are run in the evaluation mode, vCenter Server Heartbeat detects this condition via the Plug-in Rules and displays the Application Health status as Degraded. When the Application Health status is Degraded, Protected Service Discovery tasks do not run.

To allow the Protected Service Discovery task to run while running VMware vCenter products are run in the evaluation mode, disable the Check vCenter License rule via the vCenter Server Heartbeat Console.

To disable the Check vCenter License rule:
  1. Launch the vCenter Server Heartbeat Console.
  2. Click Application.
  3. Click the Rules tab.
  4. Choose the Check vCenter License rule.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Deselect Enabled.
  7. Click OK.
