View Composer agent initialization state error (-1000) when provisioning virtual desktops

Symptoms

After successfully creating a linked clone, you may see the following error in the View Admin page (under Desktop Sources) during the provisioning of the virtual desktops:

View Composer agent initialization state error (-1000): SVI status not available (waited -1000 seconds)

Resolution

This issue may occur if you have the incorrect version of the VMware View Manager agent installed on the template.
 
To resolve this issue, ensure that the version of the VMware View Manager agent is at least 3.0.1 (to match the version of the View Composer). If the version is lower than 3.0.1, upgrade the agent.
