VirtualCenter cannot authenticate domain account users
Details
- VirtualCenter cannot authenticate domain account users (local accounts are unaffected)
- Clicking on domain users in VirtualCenter produces the error:
A general system error occurred: error accessing directory
- VirtualCenter logs contain messages similar to:
[2009-04-16 10:41:53.078 'Libs' 3500 info] [ADS] Failed to get group description
[2009-04-16 10:41:53.078 'Libs' 3500 info] [ADS] Enumerate failed (0x800708ac)
Solution
You must edit Active Directory settings.
To edit Active Directory settings:
- Log in to VirtualCenter with a local Administrator account.
- Click Administration > VirtualCenter Management Server Configuration.
- Click Active Directory.
- Change the Active Directory Timeout from 60 to 120 seconds.
- Ensure that Enable Query Limit is selected and enter a limit of 100.
- Click OK.
