ESX Server 3i version 3.5 occasionally fails to reboot the server when a reboot is issued

On ESX server 3i version 3.5, the system might fail to reboot. This occurs when the following Sysalert warning is observed in vmkernel logs:

ALERT: UserCartel: 993: bootstrap/init UW died

No workaround currently exists for this issue.
