Deleting Parallels tools

Details

A Parallels Tools installation adds network adapters to the Macintosh host that can result in unexpected behavior with Fusion. Uninstalling Parallels does not remove Tools or these network adapters.

Solution

To remove Parallels Tools:
  1. Power down all virtual machines.
  2. Quit all applications.
  3. Open Terminal from /Applications/Utilities.
  4. Copy and paste in the following commands, pressing Enter after each command:

    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_hid_hook.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_hypervisor.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_netbridge.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_usb_connect.kext
    sudo rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/prl_vnic.kext
