Changing the IP address of an ESX host in a Lab Manager environment (1009026)

Purpose

This article provides steps to change the IP address an ESX host that is part of a vCenter Lab Manager environment.

Resolution

To change the IP address of an ESX host:
  1. Undeploy all virtual machines managed by the ESX host. For more information, see Managing Hosts in the Lab Manager User's Guide 3.0 or 4.0 User's Guide.
  2. Disable and remove the ESX host from Lab Manager. For more information, see Managing Hosts in the Lab Manager User's Guide 3.0 or 4.0 User's Guide.
  3. Remove the ESX host from VMware VirtualCenter.
  4. Change the IP address of the ESX host. For more information, see Changing the IP address, default gateway, and hostname of the Service Console in ESX (4309499).
  5. Reboot the Lab Manager server.

Note: This stops any currently running processes (such as clone, check out, or export), but does not affect any deployed virtual machines.

  6. Add the ESX host back to VirtualCenter.
  7. Add the ESX host to Lab Manager and prepare it. For more information, see Managing Hosts in the Lab Manager User's Guide.
  8. For each ESX host ensure the physical networks are bound to the appropriate vSwitch or distributed virtual switch (DVS).
