vdmadmin.exe -L option does not remove existing pool assignments (1008838)

Details

The vdmadmin.exe -L option, which assigns virtual machines in persistent pools to users, does not check to determine whether a pool assignment has already been made. This assignment is normally made the first time a user accesses a persistent pool desktop.

Solution

Upgrade to View Manager 3.1.2 or View 4.0. You can download new versions of VMware View from the View download page.

Workaround
Before attempting to make a pool assignment, first attempt to remove any existing assignment by executing the command with the -r option. Otherwise, if an assignment has already been made, the old assignment is retained and the new assignment does not take effect.

For instructions on using the View Manager vdmadmin.exe tool, see the document Command Line Tool for View Manager, available on the VMware Web site at http://www.vmware.com/support/pubs/view_pubs.html .
