Clean installation of the View Connection Server fails when the default security on the parent directory of the installation directory is altered (1008425)

Details

Altering the default security on the parent directory of the View Connection Server installation directory can lead to various unpredictable and negative results, such as preventing a clean installation of the Connection Server.

Solution

The parent directory of the View installation directory should have the same standard security ACL found in %ProgramFiles%.

In View 3.1, an error message is displayed to indicate that permissions on the selected installation folder do not allow read access.
