Systems within a specified range of IP addresses are not discovered

Details

When scanning a wide range of IP addresses using IP Range system discovery, some systems might not be discovered. If the target range contains a number of continuous, unused IP addresses (20+), systems with IP addresses after this gap will not be discovered. For example, if you have 10 systems in the address space 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.20 and another 10 systems in the space 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.110, running IP Range discovery with default settings will discover the first group of 10 systems but will not discover the second.

Solution

There are two workarounds.

  • You can narrow down the IP range to exclude any gaps in IP addresses.
  • In IP Range Discovery configuration screen, you can increase Timeout to 5 seconds and decrease scan concurrency to 5.
