Unlocking View virtual machines in VirtualCenter or vCenter Server

Details

If View virtual machines become locked in VirtualCenter or vCenter Server, you can use a command-line tool to unlock them. Which tool you use depends on with version of View Manager you have.

Solution

For View 4.5 and later releases, on the View Connection Server host you can use the vdmadmin command with the -V option to unlock or lock virtual machines in the datacenter.
The default location for this tool is:

C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware View\Server\tools\bin\vdmadmin.exe

For usage guidelines and examples, see the chapter called "Using the vdmadmin Command" in the VMware View Administration document.

For View Manager 3.x, use the tool in the following location on the View Manager server:

C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware VDM\Server\bin\VdmVcTool.cmd

When you open the tool, you can see usage guidelines and examples.
