Remediation of ESX350-2008114XX-XX Might Produce Errors

Details

When remediating ESX 3.5 Update 1 and earlier through Update Manager 1.0 Update 1 and older, you might encounter the following error messages: 
 
There are errors during the remediation operation.
Installation failed - higher version of patch already installed.

This problem occurs when the baseline includes the bundles starting with ESX350-2008114XX-XX along with other, previously-released bundles.

Solution

This issue does not occur when the baseline includes only the bundles starting with ESX350-2008114XX-XX or when you remediate the host using Update Manager 1.0 Update 2 and later.

To avoid this issue, exclude other bundles from the baseline, so that the baseline contains only bundles starting with ESX350-2008114XX-XX.

If you already encountered this issue, retry the remediation multiple times (typically 2-3) to complete the installation of the bundles.
