Virtual disks status of “Not Configured" in the Edit Virtual Machine Properties wizard

Details

This article identifies why a virtual disk can have the status of "Not Configured" in the Edit Virtual Machine Properties wizard in the Storage Devices section.

Solution

When adding a virtual machine to a Protection Group, VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) verifies that all files that make up the virtual machine are being replicated. If the virtual machine has snapshots, the wizard only identifies the top level delta file(s) as the virtual disk(s). If the delta(s) points to a base virtual disk file(s) located on a non-replicated datastore(s), the wizard lists the status of those virtual disks as Not Configured

To prevent this issue, ensure that all datastores being used by the virtual machine are being replicated and that these datastores are part of the protection group.

When all datastores required by the virtual machines are being replicated, the Edit Virtual Machine Properties window displays the hard disk status as Replicated .
