/proc/stat does not report virtual machine CPU usage

Details

When viewing /proct/stat in the service console, the information in /proc/stat does not show CPU usage for individual virtual machines.

Solution

The usage statistics in /proc/stat are the statistics for the service console operating system and not for any virtual machines on the ESX Server host.  You will only see usage statistics cpu0, the CPU assigned to the service console.  For information on virtual machine CPU usage, use esxtop or the /proc/vmware/sched/cpu* nodes.  See Using /proc/vmware Nodes (KB 1278) for more information beffore using /proc/vmware.
