Attempting to add an automated desktop pool using linked clone technology fails after reinitializing the View Composer database and generates an "Invalid value for parameter vcConfigId passed to SVI function" error message

Details

After a View Composer enabled VirtualCenter entry has been added to View Manager, the details of that VirtualCenter are stored in the View Composer database. If you subsequently reinitialize the View Composer database (by reinstalling View Composer or by upgrading and choosing to reinitiaze an existing database), View Manager does not check whether the VirtualCenter entry exists in the View Composer database before allowing you to attempt to create a linked clone automated desktop pool.

Solution

Do not reinitialize the View Composer database when reinstalling or upgrading View Composer unless you  want to remove all View Composer information about VirtualCenter, Active Directory domain credentials, linked clones, and replica virtual machines. If you do reinitialize the View Composer database, remove the VirtualCenter entry from View Manager and re-add the entry before attempting to create any linked clone automated desktop pools.
In View 3.1, an appropriate error message is displayed to indicate that the View Composer database has been re-initialized or is corrupt.
